March #BookOfTheMonth: Living Prayer

Added about 6 years ago by Sacristy Press

We were sad to learn of the death of author John Davey a few weeks ago. Not long before he died, he wrote an article for our blog, as we had planned to feature Living Prayer as our Book of the Month in March. At the request of John's widow Mary, the article will be published as planned on our blog in a few weeks' time, both in memory of John and to keep bringing his writing to new readers. In the meantime, read on discover how to make the most of the penitential season of Lent with his beautiful book.

Prayer can seem like a formidable challenge. Even if we find the time to pray in our busy lives, knowing what to say, or how to say it, can be daunting, and even make us feel inadequate before God.

In this concise book, John Davey introduces prayer not with abstract theory but with actual prayers and scripture that can be used everyday.

This gentle introduction to praying starts with the Lord’s Prayer, then guides us through the first steps of prayer, before building on that with a simple structure of morning, evening and night prayer. New concepts are introduced gently, chapter by chapter.

This book will be a welcome companion for anyone who is new to faith, or struggling with their prayer life.

Living Prayer: Learning to Pray in Daily Life is our March #BookOfTheMonth. Get your copy today, and keep an eye out for John Davey’s blog later in the month.
